Amout of personal data is enormous and continually increasing. Year by year our digital footprint is larger. This footprint includes considerable amount of health data both clinical and non-clinical. As the amount of personal data increases new ways to manage the data are needed.My Data is a human centric way to manage and control personal data. Individuals are given the rights and practical means to get the data for them selves and to control how it is used. This is progressive approach to solve the privacy problems in a way that the data can still be used easily to all such purposes that the individual gives permission.By this definition My Data is a subset of personal data. All My Data is personal data, but such personal data where the data subject has no practical means to get the data for herself and control how it is used can not be called My Data. In the expert meeting we dive deeper to the questions how My Data approach could be used in registries, electrical health record systems, biobanks and research. What is means in practice if people can manage their own data more directly?
